Recently Ruger released the 3 inch LCRX, and me being the Ruger fan and LCR fan, I had to get it for carry. Well, like most new guns with unusual profiles, finding a holster proved difficult. So I went on the hunt, ending up right here at Garrett. I researched the holsters that they make, and Emailed Garrett to see if they were able to make a holster for the LCRX-3. They can and did. I placed my order the 27th of March and got my holster April 10th. Not bad for a custom maker, but not the fastest. It didn't make a difference to me though, as I have no problems waiting for quality. And let me tell you, that is exactly what these holsters are; quality. everything about the holster is superb. Down to the edges of the kydex, this is a extremely refined holster that does everything astoundingly well, with one minor exception- it is not the most comfortable IWB I have had, as the outside, as you can see from the pictures provided, is bare kydex. It isn't horrendously uncomfortable, but you won't forget that you have a gun on you, which you shouldn't anyway... but you get the point. The good however, makes this worth every penny spent. I'll break it down-
-Overall build quality. Superb, from the high quality kydex, to the finely finished leather lining, down to the perfectly rounded edges, this holster is, in my opinion, the absolute top of the line.
-Durability. Great. This, again, is as high of quality kydex you can get in my years of experience, and can withstand a lot of abuse, even despite realistically an IWB holster will not take that much as an OWB. I bashed it with a steel hammer multiple times, stood on it, and intentionally fell on it onto concrete. It is still good as the moment I opened the box. Talk about trusting your gear.
-Weight. Despite the tank-like durability of the kydex, it is considerably light. Not the lightest out there, but not heavy enough to be an issue.
-Clip. Garrett offers multiple clip options. I chose the Heavy duty Wide, and it is just that; heavy duty. It is every bit as durable at the rest of the holster. It also is very stiff, ensuring wherever you put your gun on your belt that it will stay there, even under heavy duress.
-Retention. While adjustable, whatever level of retention you choose, it'll stay there and holds your gun like a champ. While my gun is very light, I have no doubt that the holsters will retain heavier, full metal guns without issue. Not to mention the silence of re-holstering. The unique design of Garrett holsters allows for silent drawing and re-holstering which can be invaluable in a bad situation.
-Concealability. This depends on the gun just as well as te holster, and this holster does a wonderful job. I have some print, but that is due to my grip being fairly long. The holster itself is as minimal as it gets, while retaining outlandish functionality. It'll keep prying eyes guessing.
Long story short- if you're looking for arguably the highest quality IWB Kydex holster on this considerably overcrowded market, then get a Garrett. You won't be disappointed. I wasn't and I am going to order many more for my other handguns.
